SUPPORTERS, coaches and industry-leading speakers will come together at the North East’s first football exhibition.

Organised by Northumber­land FA, Football Expo North East will be held on Saturday, April 4 (10.00-4.00) at Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park Stadium.

As well as more than 70 exhibitors, the event will feature demonstrat­ions and seminars covering everything from pitch maintenanc­e to referee developmen­t.

Local coaches will also be able to develop their skills thanks to practical outdoor sessions.

Experts from The FA and the Football Foundation will be on hand to share their knowledge and experience on a range of football topics such as funding and facilities management.

■ONLY five points separate the top four teams in Division One of the Consett Pool League.

Blackhill Club lead the way, followed by the Phoenix, Finnians B and Finnians A.

Finnians D are top of Division Two by a point, the Kings Head, Black Horse and Station Club close behind with only four points between the top four teams.

Demi A are in pole position in Division Three with a healthy 11-point advantage.

■THE North East Midweek Cricket League has confirmed its 2020 season will begin on Monday, April 27 and be completed by Friday, August 14.

■HORDEN CW are three points clear at the top of the Wearside League following a 1-0 victory at Silksworth CW.

In the only other midweek game played, Wolviston were 4-0 winners at Farringdon Detached.

■WHITLEY Bay Junior Ice Hockey Club had four players involved in the Under-11 November Mini- Conference Tournament at Ice Sheffield.

Jacob Barnes, Evie-Mae Tindale, George Cowey and Stuart Hall were part of the North squad beaten by the Midlands and the South West but which drew with the South East in the round-robin stage before losing in the semis to the Midlands.

■NORTHUMBER­LAND Schools’ Under-16 Boys hope to play their ESFA Inter-County Trophy first round game against Cleveland at the second time of asking tomorrow.

The game fell victim to the bad weather last weekend.

The match is due to be played at Newcastle University’s Longbenton Sports Ground (10.00).
