A Hudson double gives Fordley win

AFC New Fordley edged clear in second place in the Bay Plastics Premier Division when they won 2-1 at Newcastle Chemfica.

Liam Hudson bagged a brace, including a penalty, for the victors, Fergus Lynch replying.

The only game in Division One ended in a 2-2 draw between Bedlington and Gosforth Bohemians.

All four goals came in the final half-hour from Stephen Young and Joseph Thompson (Bedlington) and Kieran Boyle and Greg Weatherspo­on (Bohemians).

Two games were played in Division Two.

The first involvied leaders Haltwhistl­e Jubilee who were made to fight before extending their lead at the top to six points, edging out hosts Ellington 4-3.

Greg Irwin gave the visitors the lead after just 15 seconds and, although further goals were added by Robley, Barker and Currah, the hosts hit back with efforts from Maher, Atkin and Bains.

Newcastle East End edged their encounter at Newcastle Blue Star Reserves, Lewis Laidler and Dan Whitfield netting in a 2-1 victory and Dan Bland with the reply.

In the only game in the

Bluefin Sports Insurance Developmen­t Division, Newcastle Chemfica Amateurs prevailed 3-1 at West Jesmond.

Harrison hit the decisive counter ten minutes from time following a close first half which produced strikes from Nowosielsk­i and Jones for the visitors and Ferraro for the hosts.

A small number of cup games were played and both Blyth sides picked up comfortabl­e wins to progress in their respective competitio­ns. Blyth Town reached the semifinals of the Benevolent Bowl with a 6-1 home success over Ponteland United, Adam Johnson and Liam Thompson notching two apiece.

Blyth progressed in the George Dobbins League Cup with a 5-0 home triumph over Spittal Rovers, Joe Moscrop bagging braces.

The other two League Cup games were closer affairs.

AFC Killingwor­th edged hosts Whitley Bay Reserves 4-3, Konner Lamb with two, efforts and Mitchell Ramsay and Malcolm Morien for the hosts, Dillon Blake with a brace and Michael AnnangColq­uhuon replying.

Premier Division Wallington were made to fight at Developmen­t Division leaders Ponteland United Reserves.

The visitors finally progressed 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw, Lutfur Karim for the hosts cancelling out Micky Angus’ opener.
