Mr Robinson working hard

I have been Deputy Head for 14 years.

2. What do you like best about working with students in Beaconhill? Every day is different and children are always enthusiastic about their learning. They also have a good sense of humour.

3. Which subject did you teach before becoming Deputy Head?

I taught all subjects before becoming Deputy Head and I still teach 4 days a week now.

4. Which part of school life do you find to be the most important for your students?

The ability to get on with everyone and work as part of a team.

5. What would you do if you were not a teacher? I would love to be a professional golf player.

6. Why did you become a teacher?

I think teaching is very rewarding and it gives a chance to change lives for many children.

7. Can you describe a typical day at Beaconhill? There is no typical day. Every day is different!

8. What is the best part of your job?

It is the teaching, which I find the most rewarding and seeing pupils make progress.

9. Have there been any stand-out moments at Beaconhill?

There was one particular stand-out moment when my class brought the ceiling down in the hall. We were playing with a parachute and a football. It went faster and higher than we were expecting.

Christmas dinner.

THE SMOOGA (SPORT FENCING ARENA) was introduced to Beaconhill in 2014 and originally stayed on the school yard. Since then, children have been enjoying playing football and hockey in the special zone.

The arena was moved several times but now has its own permanent, purpose built surface near the school yard.

There is a timetable where each class knows when it is their turn to go in. The Smooga was chosen, with the help of the school council so that football could be played all year round and not just when the grass is dry and safe.

It also means that other sports can be played on the main yard, such as basketball. We think the Smooga is great.

WHEN IT IS RAINING a lot at play time, we like to Go Noodle. Go Noodle is a website that has lots of activities on it that anybody can do.

The School council wanted pupils to be more active on wet play times (instead of watching DVDs) so we decided to put Go Noodle on in the hall.

Reception and Key Stage 1 have their turn then Key Stage 2 have theirs. Everybody gets into a space and gets involved.

You can dance along to music, take part in yoga and breathing techniques and even learn English, Maths and Science and other subjects to music.

It helps to promote an active and healthy lifestyle but also helps us to relax.
