-

WITH schools now preparing to re-open their doors, one has faced the current challenges head on and is staying ahead of the curve by hosting a virtual open day in preparation for the new intake of students and fresh start in September.

North East Futures UTC opened in 2018 in central Newcastle in the newly redeveloped Stephenson Quarter aiming to give students a more rounded experience of school by combining a strong core curriculum with technical qualifications.

The school building replicates a business environment with state-of– the-art facilities and is well connected by public transport links with nearby metro, train and bus stations.

This is not only a new school, but a new approach to educating 14-19 year olds, that could change the education landscape for decades.

All students at North East Futures UTC specialise in either healthcare science or digital technology. At 14 years of age they will also study a broad and balanced curriculum; at Post 16 level, the curriculum becomes more specialist with A levels in physics, computer science, mathematics, further mathematics, biology and chemistry being studied alongside specialist technical courses.

At capacity the school will be educating up to 600 students who will all have a passion for healthcare science or computer science.
