TRIED & TESTED
WE GIVE SOME SUMMERY NAIL POLISHES THE BRUSH-ON
ESSIE EXPRESSIE QUICK DRY NAIL COLOUR
£7.99 each, Boots.com
★★★★★
ANYTHING that promises a quick dry is right up our street. The brush was a good size and shape to coat nails in two applications, and two coats gave a pigmented result. It took five minutes for nails to be fully dry, which is amazing.
BARRY M GREEN ORIGIN NAIL PAINT
£3.99 each,
Barrym.com ★★★★★ THESE are suitable for vegans and made with 70% natural ingredients. The shine the polish gives is very impressive. Two coats should be enough to give nails a pigmented and even finish, and the polish was quick to dry. They chipped quickly, though – within two days.
LEIGHTON DENNY BACK TO NATURE NAIL POLISH
£12 each, Ld-boutique.com
★★★★★
THIS has an extra-wide brush, which almost coats the whole nail in one swipe. The formula is made with 75% plant-derived ingredients, and is quite runny so it doesn’t give that thick, gel-like effect. A couple of coats are definitely needed, but the colour is bold and streak-free.
NAILS INC FRESHLY JUICED VITAMIN C DUO
£15, Nailsinc.com ★★★★★ THESE claim to smell like orange and watermelon and they really do… assuming said fruits had been dunked in nail polish. It’s a cute gimmick and the cheery, juicy shades are nicely pigmented.
CND NAUTI NAUTICAL VINYLUX LONG WEAR POLISH
£11.95 each, Nailpolishdirect.com
★★★★★
THE violet Get Nauti colour gave a glossy finish, but most of that seemed to be the top coat (Vinylux Shellac Weekly Top Coat, an extra £9.95).
It took a little longer than we’d have liked to dry, but gave a nice professional result. Two nails chipped after five days though.
