TENNIS MUM SWAPS THE COURT FOR THE KITCHEN AS CELEBS DO MASTERCHEF BATTLE

- With Sara Wallis

IT’S hard to understand when contestants walk into the MasterChef kitchen and decide to cook a dish they have never tried before. This is really not the time to experiment, people!

Tonight is the final heat and the celebrities are faced with the Market round, selecting ingredients and inventing a dish on the spot.

Comedian and actor Crissy Rock picks up a sea bream, which she has no idea what to do with, while broadcaster and internet star Riyadh Khalaf looks puzzled as he puts a celeriac into his basket.

“The only fish I’ve ever had is out the chippy,” says Crissy, poking the fish gingerly into a frying pan and preparing the pear – yes really– to go with it.

Also in this heat are Olympic gold medalist and sports presenter Sir Matthew Pinsent CBE, who has the sportsman’s mentality to “go all out and take risks”. You’ll be surprised at how much the man knows about pastry.

Meanwhile, TV personality Pete Wicks declares that he has spent 31 years blagging life. He’s swigging from a bottle of wine at this point, as he whips up his ‘Sweet Mess’ dessert.

Completing the line up, tennis coach and famous tennis mum Judy Murray reveals that she has the er, full support of sons Andy and Jamie, who apparently said: “Oh my God, you’ll be rubbish”.

She says: “My kids are always blaming me for bringing them up on tins and ready made meals. They reckon I’m the worst cook in the world.”

There could be some kitchen nightmares in store...
