EAT WELL FOR LESS?
BBC1, 8pm
THERE’S an intervention this week as a concerned daughter – who happens to be a personal trainer – calls the team to help her parents.
Kim wants Gregg Wallace and Chris Bavin, the self-titled Sherlock and Watson of supermarket shopping, to help Karen and John Killeen, from Solihull.
After a tough year caring for Karen’s mother and dealing with the loss of John’s brother, the couple’s health has taken a back seat. Their supermarket trolley is rammed with sugary snacks and they have greasy takeaways most nights, no longer cooking from scratch. “Mr Kipling is like a family member in this house,” sighs Kim.
The Killeens’ food habits are also costing them a fortune, meaning retirement seems a long way off.
Chris and Gregg do their worst, banning bad foods, swapping out branded products for cheaper versions and teaching them some simple recipes. But will a homemade kebab cut it? And will the savings rack up?
