Comeback point for Auckland

WEST Auckland Town battled back from two goals down to claim a point in their visit to Northern League Division One rivals Northaller­ton Town.

Nathan Stephenson and Cieran Jackson put the hosts into a two-goal advantage but secondhalf goals from Jamie Harwood and Jordan Blinco ensured that the spoils were shared.

Billingham Town threatened to make a similar comeback before falling to a 5-2 defeat at Penrith.

The Bonny Blues coasted into a three-goal lead inside the opening 13 minutes but Town got themselves back in the game by half-time thanks to goals from Danny Boyle and Harry Close.

However, their comeback was short-lived two more goals helped their hosts to all three points. Sunderland RCA fell to a 2-1 defeat at Thornaby.

Cedwyn Scott hit a double hat-trick as Hebburn Town took their impressive league form into the Durham Challenge Cup with a 10-2 win at Northern League Division Two club Washington.

Crook Town were also big winners as they put six goals past Wearside League club West Auckland Tunns.

Christian Holliday led the way with a hat-trick, Jamie Tumilty grabbed a brace and Dale Eltringham was also on target in a 6-1 win.

A Chris Winn brace and a Liam Potter goal helped Bishop Auckland to a 3-1 win against Horden CW at Heritage Park and Ryhope CW also battled their way past Wearside League opposition in a 2-0 win at Silksworth CW.

Birtley Town saw off Division Two rivals Brandon United as goals from Hoops duo Sam Hedley and Chad Collins sandwiched an equaliser from Nathan Plews.

Billingham Synthonia came out on top in their all-Division Two tie against Sunderland West End.

Kurtis Howes scored twice and there was a goal apiece for Scott Howes, Matthew Wilson and Jack Randall as Synners claimed a comfortabl­e win over Darren Liddle’s side.
