Longstaff is well again for Wolves
NEWCASTLE United midfielder Sean Longstaff has been declared fit to face Wolves after a bout of tonsilitis last week.
The player was told to stay at home and missed training in the build-up to the Manchester United game but must now wait to see if he is involved at Molineux.
Longstaff’s younger brother Matty will continue to work with the Under-23s, who faced West Brom in Premier League 2 yesterday.
Meanwhile, Isaac Hayden is facing late fitness tests to see if he has sufficiently shaken off his hamstring injury sustained against the Red Devils.
Toon boss Steve Bruce said yesterday: “The three lads who played in the U23s have all benefited from that. Matty Longstaff will play again today. His brother, Sean, has declared himself okay.
“He’s had a horrible bout of tonsillitis, but we’ve got one or two coming back and that can only be a good thing.”
Newcastle also have Paul Dummett and Ciaran Clark back in contention after both players got an hour under their belts for the reserves against Fulham.
