We need to deliver, warns North Tory

-

THE North’s Tory MPs need to ensure the Governmen delivers visible improvements to their constituencies “if we have any hope of keeping hold of these seats,” Bishop Auckland MP Dehenna Davison has warned.

She said voters wanted to see “shovels in the ground” with projects such as roads or rail lines underway before the next election.

Ms Davison is a member of a group of Conservative MPs calling themselves the Northern Research Group, which has been compared to a trade union for the North.

She said: “People often ask, what is levelling up all about?

“To me it is very simple. It is putting in place policies to make sure a kid who grows up on an estate in Sheffield has the same opportunity as someone who grows up in a leafy Surrey suburb.”

“It is our job as Northern MPs and the Northern Research Group to really push for these policies and that is what we are going to do because if we have any hope of keeping hold of these seats we need to repay their trust.”
