Hornets wary of being latest club to get stung by Liversedge

-

HEBBURN Town manager Kevin Bolam is determined to avoid becoming the latest North East club to have their FA Vase run ended by Northern Counties East League side Liversedge.

The West Yorkshire club will arrive on South Tyneside this weekend after seeing off Newcastle Benfield, Guisborough Town and Ryhope CW to set up their last-32 meeting with the Hornets.

Liversedge’s fondness for beating North East opposition and their impressive league form before the campaign was ended indicate that they will provide a stern test for Hebburn as they look to reach a second consecutive final.

Bolam revealed that he has done his homework on the visitors ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s meeting at the Green Energy Sports Ground.

He explained: “It’s the sort of game that you expect at this stage of the competition.

“There are no easy games when you get to the latter rounds and we know from what we have been told Liversedge are a strong side.

“I have spoken to people at Ryhope and Guisborough and we have taken in as much as we can in the circumstances.

“We have prepared as best we can, and we know that we have to hit the ground running if we want to get through against a very good side.”

Bolam could hand a debut to former Darlington forward Jack Lambert after he joined the Hornets last month.

A Hebburn win would send them into a last-16 home tie against either North West Counties League club Congleton Town or Malvern Town of the Hellenic League.
