Arrest after a loud bang heard in home

A man has been arrested after a loud bang was heard at a Newcastle home.

Police received a report of concern for the welfare of a man at a home in Allerdean Close in West Denton Park after a loud bang from inside at 1.40pm yesterday.

Northumbria Police and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were both called to the scene.

Police officers spoke with a man, who was the only person inside the home, who then allegedly began to behave in an aggressive manner. The man was subsequently arrested.

Two appliances from the fire service attended however one has since been stood down.

Officers confirmed that no-one has been injured and there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public.

Fire crews and police officers remained at the scene to carry out inquiries and establish the circumstances around the incident.
