Hird’s goal on debut has the Robins chirpy

NORTH Shields striker Brad Hird marked his Robins debut with a goal as his new side earned a 2-0 home win against Seaham Red Star.

The depleted visitors put in a dogged and determined display – but fell to a defeat as Nick Cassidy and Hird’s second-half strike helped their in-form hosts stretch their unbeaten run to a seventh league game.

Mark Nash’s side remains in third place after the top two in the division shared the points in a thrilling draw at Belle View.

Leaders Thornaby looked to be on their way to a notable win when Craig Hutchinson and James Frazer gave them a two-goal lead at half-time.

However, they had to settle for a point as Consett duo Jake Orrell and Dale Pearson scored to keep their side in second place.

■ASHINGTON lie in fifth place despite being forced to share the spoils in ar six-goal clash at West Allotment Celtic.

A hat-trick from Callum Larmouth looked to have put Allotment on their way to a first league victory despite Tom Bramley and Ryan McGorrigan netting for their visitors.

However, the Colliers snatched a last-gasp point when Karl Ross grabbed an equaliser six minutes into added-on time.

■A JAMIE Tumilty strike was enough to give Crook Town all three points at Whitley Bay.

■RYTON and Crawcrook Albion sit proudly at the top of the Division Two table after claiming a fourth consecutiv­e victory in their home game against Birtley Town.

An early Dillon Blake penalty gave Albion a perfect start and the contest was settled when Joe Thompson doubled their lead 20 minutes into the second period.

■BRAD Forster netted four times as Sunderland West End’s impressive upturn in form was maintained with a 7-0 triumph against hapless Washington.

■JARROW made it three wins in a week as they prevailed in a fivegoal clash against Blyth Town.
