Do the Tokay Dokey at Leicester

-

TOKAY Dokey can defy a hefty rise from the handicapper in the Join Racing TV Now Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Leicester.

Dan Skelton’s lightly-raced eight-year-old has an attractive profile having won four of just seven races.

He has had so little racing, though, because he was off the track for almost three years between February 2019 and November 2021.

The assessor has given Tokay Dokey an 11lb hike for his 13-length demolition of Generous Day at Market Rasen on Boxing Day. As that was only his third start since his lengthy absence, there could be a great deal more to come.

Pablo Del Pueblo can get back on the winning path dropped back to six furlongs for the Betway Casino Handicap at Lingfield.

Simon Dow’s four-year-old looked like scoring over seven furlongs when holding a fourlength lead with less than two furlongs to go, but the Kodiac gelding weakened in the last 110 yards and had to settle for third place behind Split Elevens. His only career success to date came over six furlongs on this course and he should be primed to add his tally.

Richard Hannon has wasted no time in giving Mekbat racecourse experience with two runs already this month after failing to get him on the track as a two-year-old.

The Zelzal colt, owned by Al Shaqab Racing, was a fair sixth on his debut here and built on that to finish third behind Tranquil Night at Kempton.

He can make it third time lucky in the Mansion Bet Beaten By A Head Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Nuble has won her last three starts by narrow margins and can continue her winning run in the Betway Handicap.

It looks like the Marco Bottitrained mare keeps a bit up her sleeve. If that is the case then she is worth following until beaten.

Edraak looks to have solid claims in the MansionBet Guaranteed Odds Handicap at Southwell.

The six-year-old, trained by Mick Appleby, ended the turf campaign by finishing a creditable fifth in the Ayr Gold Cup.

The Elzaam gelding was given an 81-day break and has come back with two promising runs.
