NEWCASTLE Blue Star cut Killingwor­th’s lead at the top of the Bay Plastics Northern Alliance League’s Premier Division to just seven points.

A first-half hat-trick from Damien Stevens set Star on their way to an emphatic 6-1 win at North Shields Athletic.

Gateshead Rutherford triumphed 2-1 at Seaton Delaval, Chris Hewitt grabbing a late winner.

Jack Barber nabbed himself a hat-trick as Haltwhistl­e Jubilee defeated visitors Percy Main Amateurs 4-0.

■CRAMLINGTO­N United still boast a 15-point advantage at the top of the Reeves Independen­t First Division after a 3-1 success at Forest Hall Celtic.

■THE battle of the top two in the Team Valley Carpets Second Division went in favour of secondplac­ed Wideopen.

They closed the gap on leaders Stobswood Welfare to two points by overcoming them 2-1 , Taylor Smith with the winner.

Ponteland United Reserves also kept up the pressure on the top two when they saw off visiting Ashington Reserves 6-0.

■WALKER Central and Newbiggin Central continue to set the pace in the Bluefin Sport Insurance Third Division.

Walker prevailed 7-3 at home to Ellington Developmen­t while Newbiggin Central defeated visiting Newcastle Independen­t Cabrito 4-0.
