ANOTHER spectacular floor show from karate kid Denny Shy has cemented his position as the best under-21 Kata performer in the UK, writes TONY HODGSON.

The 16-year-old had already won two world titles in October, competing against 25 countries at the M and S Arena in Liverpool.

On the first day of the event, Shy and Ashington Karate Club team-mates Nick Nelson and Alex Lockett claimed the junior male team Kata prize, beating teams from Belgium, South Africa and the Czech Republic in the finals.

The following day the youngster progressed through the rounds of the cadet male individual Kata (age 16-17) to reach the final.

There he faced off against athletes from the Czech Republic and Spain to clinch the gold medal.

Shy followed that sensational success with more gold medal glory at the National Youths and Students Championships at Grantham.

He won both of his categories convincingly and is now looking forward to competing at the European Championships in Switzerland in early December.
