Tomorrow is finally here for all music fans

THE outdoor stage is set for action as a big weekend of live music at Exhibition Park in Newcastle gets under way.

This Is Tomorrow finally gets off the ground today after last year’s cancellati­on then a further postponeme­nt due to the pandemic.

While a long time coming for live music-starved fans, the festival is now out to fill that gap with a whopping 52-act line-up over its three-day run to ensure that there’s something for everybody.

Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of who is on the festival programme.

Today’s line-up is headlined by Dermot Kennedy, the Irish pop star behind Outnumbere­d and Giants, whose debut album Without Fear was number one in Ireland. Also appearing today will be Blossoms, Bugzy Malone, Mahalia, Holly Humberston­e, The Lathums, Bloxx, Mosa Wild, The Illicits, Zela, Bang Bang Romeo, Michael Gallagher, Badmind, Sweets, Luke Royalty and Kay Greyson. Saturday’s offerings will be headlined by Gerry Cinnamon, the Scottish singer-songwriter who is on a roll after following up his debut album Erratic Cinematic with The Bonny, which shot to No 1 last year. Also appearing will be The Kooks, Circawaves, Sea Girls, The Snuts, The Pale White, The Dunts, Airways, Calva Louise, The Byker Grove Fan Club, Hector Gannet, Spilt Milk, Tom A Smith, Sola, Sam Mandele and Purle, Georgia May and Baltic. The festival will go out in style on Sunday with North Shields star Sam Fender headlining.

Expect a taster of second album Seventeen Going Under, which is due for release in October.

Also appearing will be Fontaines D.C, Beabadoobe­e, Nadine Shah, Goat Girl, Billy Nomates, Rachel Chinouriri, Andrew Cushin, Sophie and the Giants, Heidi Curtis, Dylan John Thomas, Laurel, The Daniel Wakeford Experience, Chintzy Stetson, Midnight Chic, Lizzie Easu, Bare Roots, Connor Fyfe and Fever.

Limited numbers of tickets are still available for This is Tomorrow and, if you’re thinking of getting some or have some already, there are some important bits of informatio­n you need to be aware of.

This is Tomorrow entry times are 3pm today and 1pm tomorrow and Sunday.

Ticket holders won’t need a vaccine passport or negative Covid test to gain entry.

No under-14s are allowed and under-16s must be accompanie­d by an adult. You can’t take alcohol, but sealed bottles of water and soft drinks are permitted. No food is allowed, or flares or fireworks, and, of course, no weapons are allowed.
