Toon heroes lined up for events

-

AFTER a year without live events, Tyneside promoter Steve Wraith is back with a triple whammy spoiling those of a black-and-white persuasion.

Having relaunched with a Newcastle Legends show at the Tyne Theatre he will be staging three great events over the next few months, all in the Tyneside Irish Centre at Gallowgate.

First up on the October 29 is Gavin Peacock, who will be talking about his time at St James’ which saw the arrival of Kevin Keegan as manager and the birth of the Entertainers.

Next on November 19 is an evening with myself and my old pal Supermac in aid of the Newcastle Foodbank and finally on November 26 Steve will be hosting a talk-in with Newcastle legend Peter Beardsley. Tickets are on sale for all three at www.newcastlelegends. com in the shop section.

Boxing fans also have something to look forward to with Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank squaring up for a third encounter. This time it will be across a table rather than in the ring as they come head to head at the Lancastrian Suite in Dunston at 11am on October 17.

‘The Trilogy Tour’ will see the two British icons talk about their encounters in the 1990s and take questions from fans. As well as www. newcastlelegends.com, tickets are on sale on wowcher and Groupon.

Wraith has bid farewell to life as a pro boxing promoter after nine years.

“It is getting almost impossible for small hall promoters to put on shows any more,” he said. “However, I will still be involved and at ringside as I will be renewing my manager’s licence and will be helping Phil Jeffries on his shows in the North East.”
