Rapist told teen: ‘Don’t tell or I’ll get put in prison’
MAN’S FEARS REALISED AS HE IS JAILED FOR 12 YEARS OVER ‘VIOLENT’ ATTACK ON GIRL
A RAPIST who held his hand over a teenager’s mouth as he assaulted her then told her not to tell anyone has been jailed.
Mark Fairman targeted the underage girl, who had no previous sexual experience, pushing her down and pinning her arms behind her head while forcing himself on her.
She wanted to cry out but he put his hand over her mouth and she was unable to do so.
After the attack, he said: “You can’t tell anyone because I will get done, I will get put in prison.”
His fears have now been realised after she plucked up the courage to report what had happened and he has been locked up after a jury convicted him of rape.
Sentencing the 24-year-old, of Rowanberry Road, Longbenton, North Tyneside, at Newcastle Crown Court, Judge Christopher Prince said: “(She) said her world has been completely broken.
“That is unquestionable
afair description affected.”
The judge added: “You targeted her. This was a violent and aggressive offence. She was a virgin prior to that night and she was naive by comparison to many others her age.
“You were worldly-wise, you were sexually experienced and a father. You now have three children by three different partners. You show no remorse whatsoever and you continue to deny the offences.”
Judge Prince added: “She found the experience of being called a liar in a public court extremely difficult. “Let it be said now your defence was you didn’t engage in any sexual activity with her. You said she lied in complaining you had raped her.
“She told the truth. You lied. You are the liar, not her.” As well as the 12-year prison sentence, Fairman will have to sign the sex offenders register for life and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order.
