Police appeal after two die in separate road crashes
TWO men have died in separate road crashes in Northumberland over the bank holiday weekend.
One man died and a woman was taken to hospital after a car overturned on the B6320 Ward Lane in Wark shortly before 6.40am on Sunday.
At 11.35 that evening a man died after being struck by two vehicles on the A69 at Haltwhistle.
In the first incident, a grey BMW X5 M Competition is believed to have been travelling west between Nunwick and Ladyhill when it came off the road and overturned.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the driver, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead.
A female passenger in her 40s was taken to hospital for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Their next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
Officers from Northumbria Police’s Roads Policing Unit have launched a full investigation and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Sergeant Michael Parnaby said: “We would urge anyone who saw anything to get in touch with us as soon as possible. We are particularly keen to hear from motorists who were driving in the area at the time, and any witnesses who may have dashcam footage or CCTV.”

Later police were called to a collision involving two vehicles and a pedestrian on the A69 at Haltwhistle shortly after 11.35pm. It happened between the junction with the B6322 and Melkridge.
It was reported that a grey Audi A1 and a white Ford transit van had been travelling westbound on the road when they struck a male pedestrian on the road.
The pedestrian, a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
