The roots of Great Park

- By Oliver Dalal, Charlie Lewis and Eesa Ahmed

ON 7TH OF SEPTEMBER 2021, Great Park Academy, a small school with great potential, opened its gates. We were so lucky to have such a smooth transition between first school and here- before we even started we had teachers coming to comfort us and explain what to expect. As Great Park began to grow, so did our intelligence and enthusiasm. The lessons, teachers and experiences we have had, have taught us so much and we are nowhere near finished.

So far, our list of celebrations has only grown. We have completed art workshops, taken part in a number of musical performances and sporting events. One of our greatest achievements, since this school was established, was our Children in Need day, where we successfully raised an astonishing £280, with just 60 students!

In school, we collect stamps for effort and behaviour, where winners are announced regularly- both individually and classes.

Our school has been such a great success so far. Oscar, a student at GPA, confirmed, “This school is perfect for building confidence”. With Isobel commenting, “I love this school; everyone is so kind and caring”.

So far, we have visited many unusual places and met many different people. Every few weeks we visit the library; we recently visited Segedunum, the Roman fort, and even had a visit from a Chinese lion! In addition, we have had some amazing visitors; one of our favourites being, Jaswinder Singh (North East Sikh service). Upcoming in this academic year, we have more action-packed school trips planned, such as Pizza Express, swimming lessons and the beach.

Please visit our twitter site @ Greatparkacade1, where you can follow our journey from start to finish. It really has been a busy yet unforgettable year… 2 classes, 60 kids and we’ve already achieved so much!
