Employee surely not worth this money?

YET another report about more noses in troughs at the top end of Northumberland County Council.

If an “interim monitoring officer” who trousers £125,000pa, who seemingly lives in London, needs to meet a Northumberland-based colleague, what is wrong with technology, ie Zoom, Facetime etc? Millions have been doing this very successfully over the past few years.

When I was working I paid my own travel costs. Had I taken a job in London it would

have been my responsibility to get there.

One wonders why the mandarins at county hall are employing someone who lives 300 miles away and handing her an eye-watering salary plus travel expenses.

It would be interesting to learn what this person is monitoring. Surely a town hall employee in a county with a relatively small population can never be worth these sums – these sort of sums are what you are paid if you are a cabinet minister running a complete nation.

Canny job if you can get it!
