Impact of poverty stays with affected

-

WITH reference to your Nostalgia article ‘Days of the wars of the neighbourhoods,’ can I please express my opinion? I was one of those in the picture.

Can I start by saying I do not condole this behaviour, but this was born out of poverty and to express this we showed how we felt through our anger.

Poverty is a terrible thing, it’s a scourge of society. I carried that feeling for many of my years and I will never forget. I was one of the lucky ones – I climbed out of poverty and made a good living, but others in the picture wasn’t so lucky.

It’s got to be remembered

that white working-class people of this country have had it hard.
