Guests give Diamonds a double boost

-

NEWCASTLE Diamonds have called upon Michael Palm Toft and Connor Mountain to guest at Scunthorpe Scorpions this evening in a Championship league match.

With Bradley Wilson-dean still out with an injured shoulder, Palm-toft has agreed to step in and guest at No.1, while former Diamond Mountain will cover the four rides at No.5 for Paul Starke, who is also nursing a recent injury.

Promoter Dave Tinning said: “We’d like to thank both Michael and Connor for agreeing to help us on Friday in this ongoing injury situation.

“Without their willingness to help, we would have to look at the far less satisfactory rider replacement rule being used, which we would rather not.

“Scunthorpe are a decent squad of riders, although bearing in mind our spirited performance at Poole last week, just two days before they went to Redcar and won by 10 points, I think we should make a decent show of things.”

New Zealand reserve George Congreve is back racing tonight for the Advance Fire and Security Diamonds (in association with Securicorp) after sitting out his statutory number of days following his mild concussion.

The match will be live on the British Speedway Network.

Supporters who want to watch the action in their own front room can create an account or log in at https://watch.britishspeedway. co.uk/

There is no home meeting for the Diamonds this weekend, with the resumption of racing set for next Sunday, May 29 at 4pm (doors 3pm).
