Water park closed for repairs

-

WHITLEY Bay Water Park has been closed temporarily after a number of visitors raised concerns about children slipping.

North Tyneside Council has confirmed it received a number of comments from concerned visitors about the surface being too slippery on Thursday.

It has been reported surfaces in the water park had become hazardous, leading to a number of children slipping and falling. The council has confirmed that following an investigation, it found some sections needed to be resurfaced to provide better grip.

Arrangements have been made for the water park to be resurfaced, and in the meantime, the park will remain closed.

The council has said the closure will be short-term to allow the surface to be refreshed and help prevent any further slips and falls.

A spokesman for North Tyneside Council said: “We have taken the decision to close Whitley Bay Water Park on a temporary basis following comments made by visitors about the surface being slippery.

“Upon investigation, we found that some sections of the water park needed to be resurfaced to provide a better grip, and we have arranged for that to happen.

“This will be a short-term closure to allow the surface to be refreshed and help prevent any further slips and falls.

“We appreciate how much people love this facility and we are working to upgrade and reopen the park as soon as possible.”
