City slickers prove much too strong for a still winless Almouth

NEWCASTLE City celebrated an impressive 98-run victory over Alnmouth and Lesbury, who are still without a win.

Alnmouth and Lesbury put the visitors in to bat first and in their 50 overs City reached 243-9, Zohaib Khan hitting 106 from 94 balls (including 16 fours and one six) and their captain Sandeep Padmalaya contributi­ng 39.

Gary Hunter took 5-67 from his 12 overs.

In reply, Alnmouth struggled to 145 all out in 43.4 overs.

Their best contributi­ons came from captain Robert Burnett with 42 and Harry Sutherland with 38.

Usman Mukhtar took 3-22 and Hamza Parvez 3-14.

Swalwell hosted Tillside and beat them by 87 runs.

The home team batted first and amassed 232-9 from 50 overs thanks largely to John Meadows (97) and Lee Whitfield (59). Sean Whitty took 3-62.

Tillside made a good start with opener and captain Liam Hindmarsh hitting 37 but, with inadequate assistance from his team mates, they were all out for 145.

Joseph Barber claimed 3-22 and Daniel Owen 4-33.

Tynedale played hosts to Percy Main and beat them by 219 runs.

The home side batted first and set an unassailab­le target of 316-4 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Percy Main were all out for just 97 from only 27.2 overs.

Morpeth travelled to Annfield Plain and came away with an emphatic 161-run success.

Morpeth totalled 296-3 in their 50 overs, Adam Lawn (45), Paul Johnston (86), Jonny Craigs (54) and captain Matthew Senior (81 not out) doing the damage.

In their 41-over reply, the Plain could only manage 135 all out, David Anderson (34) and David Maughan (40) their best batsmen. William Archbold ended with 5-20.
