Five more detained over Isak burglary

-

FIVE more people have been arrested as part of the investigation into a burglary at Newcastle United player Alexander Isak’s luxury home.

Enquiries have been taking place into a series of high-value burglaries involving the striker’s Darras Hall mansion and two other high-value break-ins at properties in Jesmond, Newcastle and Sunderland.

Four arrests were made by the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit (NEROCU) team last week and all four were charged with burglary.

The high-value burglaries took place between January and April with items including cash, a car, designer wear and jewellery stolen.

On Thursday, officers arrested a further two men, aged 57 and 40, and three woman, aged 63, 32 and 28, for handling stolen goods. They have all since been released on police bail while enquiries continue.

Isak and his family were not at home when the raid happened at the property on Middle Drive on Thursday April, 4. Police say cash and a car were stolen, with the vehicle found abandoned in a remote part of Northumberland soon after.

Designer clothing and jewellery worth more than £1m was stolen during the break-in on Clayton Road in Jesmond on March 31. And designer wear and jewellery worth more than £100,000 was taken in the Sunderland burglary, police say.

Three men and a woman, who are Croatian nationals – Valentino Nikolov, 31, Jela Jovanvic, 42, Giacomo Nikolov, 27, and Charlie Jovanovic, 23 – appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court charged with three counts of burglary on Monday. Their case was sent to Newcastle Crown

Court and all four were remanded in custody until the next hearing, which is next month.
