Yedlin faces music after sending-off

-

DEANDRE Yedlin has apologised to Newcastle United fans and players after being sent off during the 2-1 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The US international was dismissed after tugging back Diogo Jota in the second half with referee Mike Dean wasting no time in producing the red card.

Rafa Benitez was not convinced it was a red card after the game and feels VAR is now desperately needed in the Premier League.

However, Yedlin was not afraid to face the music after the game and said: “I just got caught on the ball a little bit.

“Whether it was or was not a red card, the referee gave it.

“I apologise to the fans and my team-mates.

“I think the effort they put in for the rest of the game was unreal.
