Christians urged to order the Easter Eggs with real meaning

-

OUT OF the 80 million Easter eggs bought in the UK each year, The Real Easter Egg is the first and only Fairtrade egg to include the true meaning of Easter on and in the box.

Now in its third year, the Real Easter Egg has a free activity pack in the box with the Easter story, an activity poster, a free iTunes download and a sticker set.

The free song is sung by Tara Mathew, an R’n’B-influenced soul singer taking the Christian message to both church and secular audiences.

It is hoped these eggs will continue to change lives through the variety of resources on offer.

Last year, the Meaningful Chocolate Company, who are behind the eggs, received testimonies from many people who had been positively affected by the gift.

A grandmother from Oxfordshire gave the egg to her granddaughter, Tracy.

She said: “Tracy saw the book that was included in The Real Easter Egg and wanted her mum to read the story to her... the following week Tracy attended Sunday school.”

It’s not only lives in the UK that are changed through the sale of these eggs, though.

With the sale of each pack a donation is made to Traidcraft Exchange to support the world’s poorest farmers. So far, over £40,000 has been donated, and a Fairtrade Premium is also paid to farmers, meaning they can invest in their community buying things from schoolbooks to solar panels.

David Marshall, from the Meaningful Chocolate Company, said: “It is encouraging to hear that many lives have been changed by people receiving a Real Easter Egg. It is proof that the events of Easter, including the death and resurrection of Jesus, have the power to open minds, change lives and offer real hope.”
