Orders of ministry

The Church of England - - LETTERS -

Sir, Canon Cranston writes that the Spirit has led us to develop “the three orders of bishop, priest and deacon” (Letters, 7 February). In fact, we have the “Ordering of Priests and Deacons” [priest being Old English for presbyter - Chambers Dictionary] and, from within these two orders, the “Consecration of Archbishops and Bishops” (Article XXXVI). So, then, we have the biblical two - not three.
