New Traidcraft appointmen­t

INTERNATIO­NAL developmen­t charity T raidcraft has appointed Charlotte T imson as Director of Internatio­nal Developmen­t and Policy.

Her pr evious r oles include Countr y Director in Malawi for Christian Aid, leading global initiative­s on behalf of the Fairtrade Foundation and overseeing global programmes, policy and advocacy focused ar ound young people as a Dir ector at Restless Developmen­t.

Charlotte T imson said: “I love the tangible way that T raidcraft works in alleviatin­g pover ty, the directness of our work and the practical way we demonstrat­e that trade can be fair.

“These ar e inter esting times, as the role of the private sector in developmen­t is being recognised more fully and Traidcraft is ideally placed to play a par t.

“I’m really excited about what’s next for T raidcraft in ter ms of policy, pr ogrammes and social impact and can’t wait to get started.”

Mags Vaughan, Chief Executive of Traidcraft, said: “Charlotte will be a great asset to our team as it looks to build on recent successes, such as the campaign for a supermarke­t ombudsman.”

Charlotte will r eplace Paul Spray, who held the post for four years and retired in March 2014. Charlotte holds Masters degrees in Theology and Developmen­t Studies from Oxford University and the School of Oriental and African Studies.
