The Rt Rev Halvor Nordhaug, Bishop of Bergen, has been appointed an Ecumenical Canon of Southwark Cathedral.

The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Rev Christopher Chessun, said the appointment of Bishop Bergen will ‘continue to strengthen the ties between their dioceses’.

The Very Rev Andrew Nunn, Dean of Southwark, said: “We are delighted that the Bishop of Bergen is to be installed as an Honorary Ecumenical Canon. Our link with the Cathedral and Diocese of Bergen is extremely important to us. Having Bishop Halvor as a member of the Cathedral foundation will further enrich that.”

Bishop Halvor said: “I feel honoured to be appointed as an Ecumenical Canon of Southwark Cathedral. My hope and prayer is that this may contribute to a growing community and mutual blessings for our two churches.”
