The 500th anniversary of the Sanctus Bell in Minchinhampton is to be celebrated.
The Bishop of Tewkesbury, the Rt Rev Martyn Snow, is rededicating the bell, which has been ringing at Holy Trinity Church since 1515. The bell is rung three times during communion services, during the consecration of the bread and wine.
The new chiming rope will be dedicated at a service on September. The Rev Helen Bailey, Rector of Minchinhampton with Box, said: “The bell has been an important part of the history of the town and we hope that many from Minchinhampton will come to join us for this special celebration.”
