A film partly shot in St Mary Magdalene Church in Hucknall, telling the story of Lord Byron’s daughter, was show on BBC4 on Thursday. Ian Raynor, churchwarden at St Mary’s, said: “As well as having Lord Byron buried in our church we also have his daughter, Countess Ada Lovelace. We had a film crew in church for a whole day a few weeks ago and we are looking forward to seeing it.”

* Bishop Paul Williams, pictured right, joined a diocese prayer walk, visiting every church in the River Idle Benefice. The communities of Bawtry, Austerfield, Mission, Everton and Mattersey, were created a year ago, and Bishop Paul joined the Rev Jonathan Strickland and prayer walkers to partake in Mission, a family service and Holy Communion at every station. “It was a fantastic day,” said Mr Strickland. “We walked and stopped to pray and in every church in the benefice we had prayer and worship. “We are one church meeting in five locations and I am trying to encourage the congregation to think like that; together we can do things which we cannot do separately.”
