Calling for Clyno

-

Greetings, from a rather cold, snowy Canada. I note with interest your Newark Autojumble pick of machines was the Clyno V-twin. (January 2021) Agreed! It is a lovely machine and I enjoyed viewing the Vickers machine gun sidecar outfit at the NMM when last I visited.

Clyno started in Thrapston, Northamptonshire, before moving to Wolverhampton; thus I have an interest in the company since I grew up there (Thrapston) before emigrating here.

As a long-time subscriber to the magazine (I still have copies going back to 1985) I do not recall ever seeing an article written about Clyno. It would be great to see an article written about the company, its startup activities, manufacturing, move to Wolverhampton and subsequent demise.

Yes, Clyno did make some wonderful V-twins; sadly however, ownership of such a machine exceeds my limited financial means, but they also made some more ‘run-of -the mill’ machines too, so maybe one day?

Thanks to you and the team for putting together a great read each month that I look forward to receiving; sadly, postage times to Canada has been severely extended due to this pandemic, but magazines are still getting through. Wishing you all continued success Bob Freeman, Ontario, Canada.

?? ?? Perhaps an article on Clyno is overdue? This is a machine on military service, during the First World War.
