Do I need to dump the distributor if I want electronic ignition? No, you don’t, as there are kits available to convert a distributor to electronic trigger. The ones I’ve seen, or looked at I should say, involve a modification to the distributor body and a variation in wiring to make it work. This is something which could be looked at if an owner wanted to keep the look of the distributor but gain the benefits of the electronic ignition.
