That’s not Ballaugh

Please excuse my late reply, in regards to an item which appeared in The Classic MotorCycle, January 2021 edition.

I refer to page 89, where a H Davis is reported as jumping Ballaugh Bridge on his Velocette. This is incorrect, as no house was built as close to the bridge, as shown in the photograph. I would suggest the photo is more likely to be taken at Rhencullenor or maybe Ballacyre.

I lived in Ballaugh for a short time, and also have relations that lived in the old Albert Hotel that once jutted out on the existing road, so know the history of the village quite well. I also am a marshal at School House Corner. Love the magazine and buy it regularly.
