05 Suspension Separate, undamped
springs provided compression and rebound for the plunger suspension. The swinging
arm suspension of later models moved on ‘Silentbloc’ bushes pressed
into the swinging arm. Twin Girling suspension units combined springing and damping. BSA’s hydraulically damped telescopic front forks had replaced girders soon after the war. They were fitted to all the A-series twins, although there were minor differences to the slider spindle bosses when full-width hubs were
adopted in 1956.
