Transmission

-

Both sides of the power unit had one-piece aluminium outer covers. That on the left (viewed from above) concealed the helical gears for the primary drive and the wet, multi-plate clutch that contained five plain and five lined plates. This transferred drive to a five-speed crossover type gearbox, with a chain final drive to the right (i.e. offside in the UK) of the rear hub. This also contains the transmission shock absorber. The left side kick-start to the back of the cover was not one of the 350B’s best-loved features.

The club can supply clutch plates, sourced from Surflex in Italy. The transmission is reasonably robust, provided the oil has received reasonable attention.
