Cycle parts
The frames were MV’s regular combination of tubes and steel pressings. A single top-tube and twin down-tubes formed basic diamonds with the power unit as a stressed member. The inverted-L pressings linked the swinging arm pivot and rear suspension units. Hubs were full-width aluminium, fitted with ball journal bearings and incorporating drums for the single leading shoe brakes. These were 200mm (approximately eightinch) diameter Grimeca items. The hubs were laced into 18-inch steel rims (aluminium for the Sport) with a 2.75 section front tyre, 3.25 for the rear. The GT models had high and wide handlebars, the Sports versions had clipons. Tinware consisted of the fuel tank, toolboxes and mudguards, which were blade type. Larger toolbox covers were fitted to the Elettronicas. Cycle parts seat and tinware, seats, handlebars and instruments are all hard to find, as is the rarelyseen original GRP battery cover. The club has some bits and pieces. Better news is that rubber items and replacement exhausts are being remanufactured in Italy. Worn or contaminated brake shoes can be relined by any specialist.
