Dawn’s a super slimmer

-

SOAP STAR Matthew Wolfenden wasn’t skating on thin ice when he said he was pleased to see less of a Fife woman.

For super slimmer Dawn Doherty met the Dancing on Ice winner and Emmerdale actor after shedding more than six stones to reach the f inal stages of a national slimming competition.

After slimming down from 16st 13 ½ lb to 10st 11lb, Dawn became one of 47 women from the UK and Ireland competing in the finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2012 competition.

Dawn (41) joined the Leuchars Slimming World group, run by Kim Eades, in January last year.

Dawn’s weight loss and new-found conf idence inspired her fellow members to vote her as their representative in the competition.

After winning the regional heat, she secured a place in the national semifinals, putting her in the running to win the overall title and a holiday to St Lucia.

Dawn said she had tried many diets over the years but her attempts usually failed miserably.

“Slimming World was completely different to anything I’d known before,” she said.

If her m o t iva t i o n started to wane, she was helped by her consultant and the rest of the group.

She added: “Thanks to them — and my weight loss — I’m a more confident person as well as a slimmer one.”

Kim added: “Dawn is not only looking fab, she’s\ a brilliant example of the difference making changes to your eating habits and getting more active can make.”
