Motorists told to expect delays on the M9 again

-

MOTORISTS ARE again being warned of major roadworks on the M9 and M9 spur.

It is the second weekend the traffic management scheme will be in operation.

Work will take place over six weekends as part of the £25 million upgrade at Junction 1a, delivered as part of the Forth Replacement Crossing project.

Wi t h long d e l ay s expected at peak times, drivers are being warned to leave more time for journeys and are being urged to avoid the area and plan alternative routes.

Significant restrictions will be put in place around the junction from 8pm on Fridays to 6am on Mondays until November 12.

Work has been scheduled to minimise disruption to road users and local communities, however, it is likely that there will be unavoidable delays.

Steven Brown, roads and infrastructure manager for Transport Scotland’s Forth Replacement Crossing employers delivery team, said traffic management was essential to allow the safe and effective delivery of specialised surfacing works, which were absolutely necessary to ensure the new crossing project remains on schedule.

N eg o t i a t i o n s with contractors had brought the number of affected weekends down from 10 to six.

“Our message is simple — please avoid using this route if at all possible over these weekends in October and November,” he said.
