- our junior football correspondent

KELTY LEFT it very late but still made light of the heavy Central Park conditions as they returned to winning ways against Musselburgh.

A fter a dour midfield battle, it was only in the last quarter that the game sparked into life, with Kelty scoring four without reply inside quarter of an hour.

Damon Gray headed the first following a great run and cross from Nelly McCabe.

Three minutes later, Stuart Cargill crossed for McCabe to volley home a goal himself.

A nd on 73 minutes, Darren Smith scored his first goal of the season in style, smashing the ball into the top corner from 18 yards.

McCabe completed the scoring with following a scramble in the box.

However, there was no such luck for St A ndrews or Hill of Beath, who both suffered three-goal defeats.

Linlithgow Rose maintained their 100% record following their 4-1 win at St A ndrews.

Ruari McLennan put them ahead after 10 minutes before Steven Manson dou- bled their tally 10 minutes later after a solo run.

Saints pulled one back through Kevin Cummings but shortly before half-time Colin Strickland reinstated the visitors’ two-goal advantage.

In the second half there were chances at both ends, but it was not until two minutes into stoppage time that the ball made it into the back of the net, when Stuart McA rthur shot home from 20 yards.

Saints loss was not so unexpected against the runaway league leaders,

However, Haws’ demise at Broxburn came as more of a surprise, although it has to be said the Kiers Park outfit were short-staffed.

Scott Pitman’s 35-yard strike was the difference between the sides at half-time.

For the first 15 minutes of the secondhalf, the Haws upped the ante.

However, Brian Fairburn’s goal 15 minutes from time effectively killed the game.

Fairburn claimed his second from the penalty-spot and there was further misery for Jock Finlayson’s side when Fraser Terras ended up being sent off for a second caution.
