Masterchef Jamie will tantalise taste buds at Brussels reception

MasterChef: The Profession­als 2014 winner Jamie Scott will help showcase Angus produce at a major Euro event in Brussels today.

Arbroath cook Jamie will give his personal insight into Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink as the East of Scotland European Consortium hosts its summer reception.

The event will see high-level EU decision makers from the European Commission and the European Parliament and other guests from as far afield as Australia and Canada.

Jamie said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to support ESEC as Scotland is rich with different foods — all a joy to cook with.

“Working with Angus produce first hand makes me so very aware of the importance of supporting these local businesses, like Arbikie Vodka and Arbroath Smokies to name but a few. Showcasing our local produce to Europe in the Year of Food and Drink is something I truly support.”

Brechin councillor Mairi Evans is chairwoman of ESEC and will co-host the reception.

She said: “This is a fantastic opportunit­y to showcase some of the very best of Angus produce.

“The region covered by ESEC offers great diversity and variety, with an enviable offering of the traditiona­l and contempora­ry.

“From the fantastic offering of venison, lamb and the worldrenow­ned Aberdeen-Angus beef, to the soft fruit industry of the east and of course the incredible seafood thanks to our lengthy coastline, our culinary heritage is unrivalled.”

ESEC was establishe­d in 1992 to represent the European interests of eight local authoritie­s in eastern Scotland.
