Spectacular flower show shakes off soggy summer weather

The 139th annual Montrose Flower Show held in the Links Hotel was a resounding success.

Membership and overall entry numbers showed an increase and the standard of the exhibits was extremely high, with Montrose Horticultural Society officials delighted by an increase in the number of new exhibitors.

There were some stunning needlework exhibits and in the children’s classes, the youngsters excelled themselves, particularly with their lighthouses made from recycled materials.

Judges in both horticultural and industrial classes praised the high standard of exhibits.

The society thanked patrons, Mr and Mrs J Stansfeld and local businesses who support the show.
