Take Kubeba to get reward he deserves

tips: Cole’s gelding backed to finally get off the mark at the 10th attempt

Windsor racegoers can make out like bandits if KUBEBA does what is expected of him in the lucky last.

The four-year-gelding has been in fine order this summer and is taken to finally end his winless run in the orchardkitchens.com Handicap.

Paul Cole’s representative has not yet hit the mark in nine starts, but that is not a true reflection of his ability as he has been set some stiff enough tasks over that time.

Two runs in handicaps this season also offer sufficient hope he could soon be on the march.

Kubeba turned in a fine effort first time up in a decent Lingfield handicap over a mile, when he only succumbed by a head to the fairly useful Hannington.

That race has since worked out pretty well, too, with the third horse home, Hanno, promptly winning at Brighton.

He was then sent to Kempton for a one-mile handicap, but things did not go to plan as the race was run at a crawling pace.

Kubeba was the biggest casualty of a soporific gallop as he only got going late on – by which time it was too late.

The son of Kodiac again showed his well-being, though, as he rattled home for fourth, a couple of lengths back.

PULL THE PIN is another horse deserving of a change of luck when he runs in the Racing UK Day Pass Handicap at Ayr.

Now in training with Heather Dalton, the six-year-old has surprisingly not won since November 2013.

The son of Kheleyf has continually gone close in low-grade sprints, however, with his most recent display at Hamilton a useful reminder of his current vitality.

Pull The Pin tried to make the running that day, only to fall on his sword at the death – going down by just half a length.

Any market move should be seized upon for a horse who is more than capable of winning off his current rating. SELECTIONS
