Man victim of gang attack in own home

-

A gang forced their way into a man’s home and attacked him with a weapon in a “violent and unprovoked assault” on Sunday.

Police said up to six men went to the house in South Queensferry at about 3.40pm and barged in after the man answered the door.

They then attacked him, at least one using a weapon, before fleeing in two vehicles.

The victim sustained injuries to his head and body and was taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston for treatment. He has since been discharged.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident on William Black Place.

Detective Constable Ross Nicol said: “This was a violent and unprovoked assault that left the victim with painful injuries that are fortunately not believed to be life-threatening.

“I’m satisfied this was an isolated incident and there is not thought to be any threat to other members of the community.”
