Lochee romp towards Super League

For an hour Sauchie matched Lochee United in last night’s Super/Premier League play-off first leg but their lack of match practice took its toll as the Bluebells ran out 5-0 winners at Beechwood Park.

Pat Martin put United in front after just eight minutes and Sauchie held Stevie Leahy’s men to that lead at the break.

However, after the hour mark, Lochee became a juggernaut that ran straight over the top of their opponents.

Bryan Deasley made it 2-0 on 64 minutes before Phil Hagen added a third just six minutes later.

Deasley got the fourth with eight minutes left before Hagen nipped in again a minute from time.

There is a second leg to come tomorrow, but it looks like Lochee United will be joining Carnoustie and Broughty Athletic in stepping up to the Super League next season.
