Number of modern apprentices increasing across Angus

-

Angus South MSP Graeme Dey has welcomed statistics showing an increase in modern apprenticeships in Angus and across Scotland.

The number of modern apprentices in training in 2015/16 has increased to 25,818, exceeding the Scottish Government’s annual target for the fifth year in a row.

In Angus, during the same period, 643 people started an apprenticeship – an increase on the 2014/15 figure of 622.

He said: “Angus has one of the highest percentages of Scotland’s local authorities of young people undertaking an apprentice – a clear indicator that our young people see the benefit of being able to train and work at the same time, as well as employers recognising the potential that apprentices offer.”
