Facelift for Dundee skin clinic

Renu Skin Clinic has had a revamp – offering brand new courses to medical professionals and members of the public.

The Renu Academy, at the Dudhope Street clinic, has been purpose-built to provide state of the art facilities and training for those new to facial aesthetics or experienced practitioners who want to learn about new treatments and technology.

Trainers Kristeen Geddes RGN NIP BA BSc and Dr Aisling Hanly BDS have a combined 15 years of advanced facial aesthetic training and both have won awards for their clinics.

Recognised with the industry as top injectors they are excited to pass on their skills.

“With the knowledge and experience myself and Aisling have collected over the years, we are very keen to pass that on to others in the industry,” Kristeen explained. “And in that time we have both seen that there is a lack of support once people complete the training course or gain a new qualification.

“When we started talking about creating the academy 18 months ago, we decided that we wanted to devise programmes that would allow ongoing mentorship and support for those new to facial aesthetics.”

Open to doctors, dentists, registered nurses and surgeons, Renu will offer basic and advanced facial aesthetic workshops in line with new industry guidelines.

“The cosmetics industry has grown so much and it is always changing so anyone working in the field will need to keep up with what is new in technique and technology.”

And there will be one and three-day first aid courses, as well as workshops in CPR, dealing with anaphylaxis, oxygen therapy and paediatric first aid, which will be open to the public as well as aesthetic and cosmetic professionals.

“We found that many people doing the aesthetic courses weren’t trained in what to do in a case of anaphylaxis, so we made that part of the academy’s training plan. But we realised that these types of courses would appeal to the public, so we have made them open to all.”

All of the courses run at the Renu Academy are fully insured and put patient safety and teaching a professional approach to aesthetics in a flexible way that will connect with students.
